Ingham County Animal Control
Built in 1971 in Mason, the shelter features a open floor cattery where the cats pick out their new owners plus outside exercise areas for the long term dogs. Three kennel workers and a contracted veterinarian provide care for 160-230 pets on hand at any one time. Seven ACO's pick up over 5000 animals each year. Many volunteers are used to assist the staff and pets. In addition a Conference room is also available for public tours and training for the staff.

Osceola County Animal Control
Built between 1971 and 1973, Animal Control Officers Orville Whitman and David Strait were officers until 1987, when Al Benson the current Director was hired. He attended HSUS Animal Control Academy at Ann Arbor in May of 1988, which was a 90 hour academy that took 2 weeks to complete. About 1995, a perimeter fence was installed around most of the building which proved necessary when we had a vicious dog escape from one of the kennels and was confined within the property. In about 1998, we had the epoxy flooring installed by a representative of Rust-Oleum.
